The Green Onion Mexican food restaurant in Moreno Valley has been a staple in the community for decades.
The menu offers many authentic Mexican dishes as well as, familiar items such as Burritos, Tacos, and Enchiladas.
A few of the mouthwatering specialty items include:
- Carnitas-made from tender shredded pork simmered with citrus and spices. Served with Pico de Gallo, avocado, and tortillas.
- Chili Verde is their chunky pork stewed with tomatillos and mild green chilis.
- Arroz Con Pollo Shredded chicken on a bed of Spanish rice, topped with mole sauce and green peas, to name a few.
- Chicken Vera Cruz is a boneless breast of chicken in a light breading. Topped with Anaheim chili, melted jack cheese, and Spanish ranchera sauce.
You can also find Steak, Seafood, and other combination plates that all include rice and beans.
I stopped in for a late lunch and had a great meal. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu offering great recommendations. The atmosphere was cozy and pleasant.
I chose to sit on the Cantina side due to my preference for spacing. So, I had a small table for two in the corner and was comfortable.
It was heading into the Happy Hour and the Cantina was beginning to get lively. You could tell this is a locals favorite spot as many people were familiar with the bartender and wait staff by name even.
I ordered the Chicken Fajitas. The chicken is marinated in achiote and spices, grilled and sautéed with onions, peppers, and tomatoes. Served with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, Pico de Gallo, and tortillas.
The Fajitas come out in grand fashion. Hot sizzling and smoking- it’s a great way to greet your meal! Everything was delicious. Good seasoning and flavorful.
Top notch food and wait staff. I have been here multiple times, but this is my 1st time since the pandemic. It’s awesome consistency in the taste and quality of the food and every time is an amazing experience all around.
