The Riverside County Sheriffs Department has released information on a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Goodman Way and Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road, in Eastvale.
On September 20, 2021, at approximately 6:31 PM- deputies responded to the report of a major injury traffic collision near the intersection of Goodman Way and Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road.
When Cal Fire personnel arrived on scene, they located a Hispanic male adult who had been struck and fatally injured. The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the car that struck the victim, and a passenger in that vehicle, were transported to a local hospital and treated for their injuries.
The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation.
Traffic collision reconstruction is the process of investigating, analyzing, and drawing conclusions about the causes and events during a vehicle collision.
From the preliminary investigation it appears the driver was traveling through the parking lot and may have suffered a medical emergency.
According to their report, the driver lost control of the vehicle, collided with a metal gate and struck the decedent who was walking through the parking lot.
Toxicology reports are pending so it remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.
The identity of the decedent is pending identification from the Coroner’s Bureau.
