How is it working along side your husband in his business?
Professionally if you're working together, I keep my mind busy, and he keeps himself busy. Yeah, we discuss a lot of stuff. Sometimes when we both are working together, we clash. Like with other employees, there's going to be a clash sometimes.
But we are married 30 years. I know him really well. He knows me really well. So, whenever it's a sensitive something to come up I always you know- push myself away or he does, it just depends. But we work like a team.
What has business been like during the pandemic?
It was a kind of little challenge. But people love our food. And thank God, we were doing okay, during the pandemic, and we kept our quality, the way it's supposed to be 100%.
Thanks to our customers. You know, they were very loyal to us. And they have kept coming during the pandemic.
The sign on your door says you’re closed on Tuesdays due to staff shortage, why do you think you’re having trouble finding help?
Yes, we have a staffing problem, especially in the kitchen department. A few weeks ago, we just started closing on Tuesday.
Before that we were working seven days a week, everybody putting in so much time, everybody was getting tired.
So, we decided, okay, close one day and everybody have the same day off. We don't want to have to do overtime or anything.
We are waiting for a couple of employees, and when they come in and get used to everything, then we will be working seven days a week.
I'm a very straightforward. Truth is when government is helping people staying home, and you are making enough money at home why would you want to work?
The Experience
I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Veggie Korma and Cheese Garlic Naan bread. All entrees come with soup and rice.
I had eaten here once or twice before the pandemic and I can say the food taste and quality has been consistent each time. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The food tastes great! Vibrant flavors and good portions for the price. Everything is fresh, and as Payal told me, they even roast and grind their herbs on site. No artificial flavors or ingredients are used.
The restaurant serves mild medium and spicy versions of most entrees. In case it's your first time trying Indian food, the milder versions are recommended.
