I had heard vague mentions of this fish place in Lake Elsinore for years but hadn’t had a chance to try it out for myself until now.
Located in the Lakeside Center at 16776 Lakeshore Drive Suite B, Lake Elsinore, AJ’s Fish Market has been serving up their brand of Louisiana style cooking for 9 years.
On the day of my visit, I met with co-owners Jeannette and John, who graciously took a few moments out of their busy afternoon to speak with me.
This Black-owned business duo are mother and son partners. Mom does most of the food prep and seasonings while her son does the cooking. Family owned and operated.

I ordered a combination plate of Fried Red Snapper, Fried Chicken, Collard Greens, Mac n Cheese, and Hush Puppies.
Without a doubt AJ’s has the best fried fish I’ve tasted anywhere in the Inland Empire thus far. And for comparison, if you like Louisiana Seafood Kitchen in Moreno Valley, you will love AJ’S Fish Market.
It’s the first time I had fish that was cooked well and didn’t sort of crumble in my hands when I picked it up.
Fish isn’t supposed to sort of melt like that, unless you like it undercooked. I particularly like my fish fried crisp and they definitely did that!
The chicken, greens, and hushpuppies were very good as well. Other popular menu items are the Buffalo Shrimp, Po Boy Sandwiches and Sweet Potato Fries. They have a variety of different fish including Red Snapper, Catfish, Tilapia, Filet Sole, and Whiting.
Jeannette had mentioned in our interview, that she felt their Mac n Cheese should be in stores. I must say, she’s probably right.
It has a unique flavor and cheese blend, unlike any other I have tasted of late. Hard to describe other than, delicious.
The entire meal was great! I shared my plate with two other taste testers, and we all agreed, this was some of the best Seafood and Soul Food in town!
