Police have confirmed that a body was recovered at White Rock Lake on Thursday. This is the second body recovered in less than two weeks. Dallas News reports that the body was recovered near Garland Road and East Lawther, which is near the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden.
Dallas Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to the location to help recover the body. Dallas police have not released any further details regarding the second body found. Last month, police recovered a body that was found face-down in the water near the spillway. An investigation is ongoing and police have not released the person's identity.
Fox 4 News reports that the cause of death has not been released to the public yet. These are not the only times a body was discovered in the area. Lakewood Advocate Magazine reports that in 2019, a game warden recovered the body of a Black transgender woman there. Police recovered an 18-year-old from a creek near White Rock. The body was recovered after their vehicle crashed into the water.
Going back several years, in 1927 the body of 19-year-old Hallie Gaston was recovered after being killed in a boating accident. Her death has become a ghost legend in Texas within the White Rock area. Fox 4 has said that police are expected to speak on the discovery sometime in the very near future. Before any further details of this investigation are released, police are working to notify next of kin. Police are advising the public in the area to stay alert to their surroundings.
