According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Missouri residents should prepare heavy rounds for intermittent snowfall and showers this winter. The meteorologist linked the early signs of La Niña, which emerged in late Oct 2021, to prolonging winter season in the North-Eastern U.S belt. Few states along the Northern U.S are on the radar that might get a heavy snowfall this winter. So, if you haven't already done, it's a good thing to prepare your emergency kit if you catch on severe weather conditions.

It is pertinent to look into the broad picture of unusual wetter weather, prolonging winter season and heavy snowfall for many states. Meteorologists believe that La Niña, an oceanic phenomenon that emerged in Oct 2021 in the Pacific Ocean, will bring unusual seasonal changes in the U.S. The country's southern half expects drier conditions and fewer showers while more rain and snow will be pocketed to the northern half.

A La Niña winter may turn into a La Niña spring, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center said Thursday.

But Missouri's residents should prepare for worse, too; that finding the snowplow drivers during the snowfall season would be daunting. People might agree on hefty per hour charges if weather conditions fall heavy on them.

Last, public safety organizations issued a necessary precautionary measure to withstand poor weather conditions. For example, the centre of Disease Control and Prevention CDC features a detailed "emergency preparedness toolkit" on their website.

Their suggested emergency preparedness list includes the following items.

  1. First aid kit with any necessary medications and a pocket knife
  2. Tire chains
  3. Windshield scraper
  4. Booster cables with a fully charged battery or jumper cables
  5. Road maps
  6. Cell phone, portable charger, and extra batteries
  7. Canned compressed air with sealant for emergency tire repair

And many others, you can visit for the complete toolkit here.
