The Key West Songwriters Festival has announced the first artists from this year's lineup on the festival Facebook Page. Announced artists include Chris Young, Jeffrey Steele, Jack Ingram, and many others.
Organizers expect over 100 performers to take the stage at venues throughout Key West over the course of the five-day festival, which is now in its 26th year. More acts will be announced as we get closer to the festival's May 4th through May 8th dates. Proceeds from the festival benefit the BMI Foundation, benefit the BMI Foundation. Founded in 1985, the BMI foundation was created to nurture the creation, performance, and study of music.
This year marks the 26th that the festival has been held in Key West. It has grown remarkably since the 1995 inaugural event, which featured Shel Silverstein and Mickey Newbury on stage with four other songwriters.
Slates over the ensuing years have featured many performers who have gone on to make big names for themselves, including Kacey Musgraves, Luke Combs, Brad Paisley, Cole Swindell, Florida Georgia Line, and Maren Morris. While this year is expected to be smaller than others because of concerns related to the pandemic, in other years, the festival has attracted as many as 150 singer-songwriters.
The Key West Songwriter Festival is held in venues throughout Key West that include popular bars, hotels, resorts, boats, and beaches. It is billed as the biggest festival of its kind. Most shows during the Songwriter Festival are free to enter. Shows with paid admission will be announced on the festival's website.
