If you've ever watched the television show "Shark Tank" on television, you've probably seen Mark Cuban. According to Forbes, Cuban's net worth is over $6 billion, and he owned the Dallas Mavericks, but is reportedly selling a majority stake in the team to the Adelson and Dumont families, according to NBA.com.

Cuban is also the co-founder of Cost Plus Drugs. According to Sharkalytics.com, Cuban has invested almost $20 million in various companies over the course of the Shark Tank. And he has recently invested in a Florida-headquartered company with a unique product.

What Is Kind Designs?: This company, headquartered in Miami Beach, uses 3D printing to make "living" seawalls that mimic coral reefs and mangroves.

The Mark Cuban Investment: In September of 2023, Kind Designs reportedly closed a $5 million seed fund round to begin their venture. According to the South Florida Business Journal, Cuban contributed to that fund, although there is no information as to how much he contributed. According to Business Wire, Anthropocene Ventures invested in the company as well.

According to The Journal, the company expected to deliver its first completed seawalls in November of 2023. According to Business Wire, the company hopes to triple its production capacity by February of 2024.

Anya Freeman, Kind Designs’ CEO has said in part:

"Having investors with a global reach, like Mark Cuban and Anthro Ventures on our team is a huge vote of confidence in our mission to regenerate marine ecosystems and protect coastal communities. With their strategic backing, we are positioned to propel Kind Designs into a massive global business, while simultaneously making an immense environmental impact...”

According to Voxel Matters, 3D concrete printing is generally considered "cheaper, faster, and most sustainable" than traditional seawalls.
