In October of 2023, Florida's unemployment rate was 2.8%. Still, the state has suffered some layoffs from employers in 2023.

Examples are Off Lease Only, which filed for bankruptcy and shuttered all of its Florida locations, and the Georgia-Pacific Mill in Perry which shut its facility and laid off over 500 employees, according to FrankNez.

And now a new Warn letter is announcing another "mass layoff" - of over 100 employees in a central Florida city.

About InteLogix: The company, formally GC Services, offers "longstanding expertise in accounts receivable management," according to AccessWire. According to the Lakeland Facebook page for the company, it has been "a pioneering force in the business process management sector for over 65 years."

The Permanent Layoffs of 102 Employees: According to a Warn letter dated November 28, 2023, the Lakeland, Florida InteLogix location on Interstate Drive will initiate a "mass layoff" of 102 employees on January 31, 2024. The layoffs are categorized as permanent.

The reason given was "elimination of work by client," per the Warn letter. Most of the jobs to be eliminated were account managers. The industry indicated was "finance and insurance."

What Employees Have Said: Employees working at the Lakeland GC Services location give the company 3 out of 5 stars on One person that the work was "stressful" due to angry customers, but it was noted that the pay "was great."

Previous Layoffs: GC Services previously laid off 89 employees at its Knoxville call center in 2019, according to Knox News.
