If you live in Florida, you already know that traffic can be problematic at times. Sometimes, you are hungry, you don't feel like cooking, and you'd like to get something to eat, but you just don't want to get in the car and fight the traffic.
Yes, there are delivery services, but the fees can feel pretty steep in some cases. If you are like the alleged majority of Floridians who consider Chick-fil-A their favorite fast food, and you are lucky enough to be close to the store in question, you can get free delivery via drone for a limited time.
What Are The Particulars?: A Chick-fil-A located at 1504 East Brandon Boulevard is offering free drone delivery on orders ordered via the app. Customers have to be within a 1.2-mile radius of the store to take advantage of the promotion, but the company is hoping to expand the radius to 2 miles, according to Creative Loafing.
Although this partnership between drone and restaurant is so far limited to the one in Brandon, Chick-fil-A is not the only business in Florida that has used this technology.
Walmart Drone Delivery In Florida: In late 2022, Select Walmart customers in Florida cities such as Clermont, New Port Richey, Valrico, Winter Haven, Tampa, and Brandon were able to begin taking advantage of drone delivery for items up to 10 pounds for a delivery fee of $3.99, according to Business Wire.
Other Automated Delivery Options For Chick-fil-A: Chick-fil-A has already tested autonomous robot delivery in Houston, so differing technology is available to deliver items in ways that do not use delivery services such as Uber Eats or Grub Hub.
So far, Chick-fil-A has not announced drone delivery at any additional markets outside of Brandon, but it's also clear that the technology exists to explore various types of delivery in different Florida cities.
Chick-fil-A Is "Testing" Drone Delivery: In a statement to USA Today, the company said it was beginning to test this form of delivering in some markets, explaining:
“Chick-fil-A is always exploring new ways to provide the best experience for our guests. We are in the early stages of testing drone delivery at a small number of Chick-fil-A restaurants."
The Brandon / Valrico Store Already Has High Customer Satisfaction: The above-mentioned store that will be implementing drone delivery already received a 4 out of 5 rating on Yelp. Customers have noticed the courteous and helpful employees and efficient service. Here is a sample of a good review:
"My family has been going to this Chick-fil-A for as long as they have been open, about 4 times a week. They always have excellent service and great food. Yes, there are some times (when) they forget a sauce and they are not perfect but their food and the courteous employees (will) make up for it. I've read some of the other reviews complaining about the young kids that are doing a great job in my opinion and are always courteous."
