Florida Amazon Driver Hospitalized Following Bite By Highly Venomous Snake During Delivery

Some Florida Amazon drivers deal with animals when they make their deliveries. However, thankfully, most of the time, the animals in question are dogs and cats (hopefully well-behaved.)

Unfortunately, an Amazon driver in the Highland Reserve Community neighborhood in Palm City came upon a dangerous animal - a highly venomous snake - an eastern diamondback rattlesnake.

The driver reportedly became ill immediately after the bite and dialed 911. According to The Martin County Sheriff's Office, dispatchers were able to use GPS to determine the driver's location to send help quickly.

The driver is reportedly hospitalized and in serious condition. Below is a photo of the snake that was published on The Martin County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page.

According to UF Wildlife, eastern diamond-backed rattlesnakes are found throughout the state of Florida. UF says that venomous snake bites are rare, but if you find yourself on the receiving end of one, you should call 911 immediately, keep the area that has been bitten below the heart, and record the time of the bite and any symptoms.

UF says that you do not need to catch the snake or apply any heat or tourniquet.
