2 Florida Destinations Mentioned in List of Best Places to Watch the Sunset

Watching the sunset at the end of the day is a peaceful way to wind down into the evening. It is a simple pleasure that doesn't cost a thing. Florida arguably has some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world because it has some unique attributes that make it meteorologically special.

What Makes Florida Sunsets So Special?: Humidity and good air quality create ideal conditions for sunsets, and Florida has both. Florida also has many places where you can see the sun meet the horizon over a body of water so that the light reflects off the water, which can be particularly stunning.

One could argue that there isn't a bad place to view a Florida sunset, but there's plenty of debate about the best place. Many of Florida's beaches (particularly Clearwater and Sarasota) and its lakes are popular places to take in the view, but so are its skylines in cities like Orlando and Tampa.

Determining the Best Places to Watch the Sunset in the U.S.: Although Florida is one state with stunning sunsets, there are other states throughout the country that offer their own stunning views. The website the Discoverer recently attempted to define the best places in the United States to see the sunset. Although the site didn't specifically define the criteria for inclusion, skies with a depth of color set against natural beauty seemed to score well.

How Did Florida Fare?: The Discoverer's list included what it considered the 8 best places in the United States to see a sunset. Florida had two destinations listed.

Miami was listed in the 5th spot. The Discoverer praised the gorgeous skyline and suggested viewing the sunset from the very tall Four Seasons Hotel. If you'd like to view the sunset over the water, the site suggested the South Pointe Park & Pier.

Also listed was Key West at the number 7 spot. The Discoverer argued that there are few better places to take in a sunset than Key West. It suggested a visit to Mallory Square to see street performers before taking in the sunset. For those who want to enjoy food and drink while taking in the view, Ocean Key Resort was a suggestion.
