Florida Children's Hospitals Mentioned on List of Best in the United States

U.S. News and World Report recently released the 2022-2023 rankings for the country's top children's hospitals. The site evaluated 119 children's hospitals across the United States using metrics like patient outcomes, efficient coordination of care, compliance with best practices, and providing care-related resources. For the first time, U.S. News and World Report considered diversity and inclusion in its criteria.

What was Included in the Rankings?: The site ranked the best hospitals overall, which were hospitals that ranked highly across many specialties. The site also ranked hospitals in the following specialties: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; diabetes and endocrinology; gastroenterology and GI surgery; neonatology; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology and lung surgery; and urology.

How Did Florida Fare?: Although Florida didn't take the top spot or rank in the top 10 of any of the rankings, 9 Florida hospitals ranked nationally in more than one pediatric specialty category.

  2. (tie) Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Miami. (First overall and nationally ranked in five specialties.)
  3. (tie) U.F. Health Shands Children's Hospital, Gainesville. (First overall and nationally ranked in five children's specialties.)
  4. John Hopkins All Children's Hospital, St. Petersburg. (Fourth overall and nationally ranked in four children's specialties.)
  5. (tie) Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital at Memorial, Hollywood. (Fifth overall and nationally ranked in two children's specialties.)
  6. (tie) Nemours Children's Hospital, Orlando. (Fifth overall and nationally ranked in two children's specialties.)
  7. (tie) AdventHealth for Children, Orlando. (Seventh overall and nationally ranked in one children's specialty.)
  8. (tie) Holtz Children's Hospital at UM-Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Miami. (Seventh overall and nationally ranked in one children's specialty.)
  9. (tie) Wolfson Children's Hospital, Jacksonville. (Seventh overall and nationally ranked in one children's specialty.)
