According to Visit Florida, in 2019, out-of-state visitors added a whopping $96.5 billion to Florida's economy. And over 131.4 million visitors made a trip to Florida that year.
Travelers Seem Willing To Travel Again: When COVID 19 hit, Florida tourism was affected. According to TD Economics, tourism declined by 67.5% in the second quarter of 2020. However, travelers appear to be fully committed to travel again. The online rental marketplace, Airbnb, just released financial results for the first quarter of 2022. The company reported a record year that exceeded pre-pandemic levels.
The company also released the top 10 trending summer domestic destinations that guests searched in the first quarter. The results suggest that guests were attracted to sunny destinations, particularly Florida.
How Did Florida Fare?: Florida took a whopping 6 out of 10 spots on the list. Walton County took the top spot. Cape San Blas came in 2nd. Mexico Beach, Florida came in 3rd. Fort Myers came in 4th. Cape Coral was number 6. And Four Corners came in 9th.
