If you visit Mount Holly, you must visit Downtown Pizza and Italian Grill. This is one of my favorite places to eat. This popular place in town had its grand opening on 35 High Street on October 30, 2013 and rapidly acquired a loyal following.

Owner Jerry Lopresti found the location of his restaurant by taking the wrong exit on the highway. It turned out to be the right choice for him. He was hoping to find a place in a quaint town where he could open a new family-style restaurant, and he soon realized that Mount Holly was the town he'd been looking for. Charmed by Mount Holly’s vibrant downtown area and friendly people, he searched for tthe perfect spot to open his new establishment. Finally, space opened up, and Downtown Pizza and Italian Grill moved in.

It's located in the heart of Mount Holly, with fun shops to browse nearby..

There is a reason this place is a favorite in town. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. I am always bringing my friends there, and it's my favorite spot for takeout.

The restaurant has a warm ambiance. When you first walk through the doors, the aroma of fresh bread and pizza in the oven entices you. Photographs of celebrities and Mount Holly adorn the walls above cozy tables. The staff is courteous and attentive.

The food is served in generous portions and everything is made fresh. Although it's an Italian restaurant with Sicilian influences, the menu has something for everyone, including pizza, sandwiches, cheese steak, meatballs, calzones, Stromboli, wings, salads, wraps, and entrees. A popular lunch spot for residents, a reasonably priced lunch special is offered from 11 am to 4 pm daily. A kid’s menu is available as well as party trays.

The Downtown Salad is my favorite salad ever and popular with customers. It arrives on a plate heaped with fried calamari, roasted red peppers, homemade mozzarella cheese, fresh prosciutto, and olives with a balsamic glaze. They give you a generous portion. I often eat it for two meals. The calamari is cooked perfectly. It's incredible.

The restaurant is recognized for the best pizza in town, with an impressive selection of toppings. Some favorites include Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the Godfather Pizza, which is covered with fresh ham and fried chicken, Vodka sauce, and mozzarella.

My personal favorite is their Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella and olive oil, plum tomatoes, and basil.

The square Grandma pizza has a thinner crust, plum tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and olive oil. Other delicious options include Broccoli and garlic white pizza and Hawaiian pizza with pineapple, ham, and sauce. The owner says that Penne Vodka is their most requested dish.

Popular is the Goodfellas sandwich, with eggplant topped with spinach, roasted red peppers, and tomato sauce, and provolone cheese on garlic bread. Yet my favorite sandwich there is the Chicken Pesto sandwich. with fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and pesto.

Their grilled chicken salad comes with generous portions of fresh chicken, tomatoes, red onions, and olives. I've often eaten their sautéed spinach with fresh garlic and lemon as a healthy side dish.

Many people love their cannoli and describe their homemade pastries as the best in the area. Here's a link to their menu.

Downtown Pizza and Italian Grill is open Monday through Thursday, from 10:30 am to 10 pm, Friday and Saturday 10:30 am to 11 pm, and 12 pm to 10 pm on Sunday. (609)-267-7229.

They have takeout and delivery. I've had good experiences with delivery in the past.

Masks are required and the staff disinfects surfaces. Social distancing is required. This is a great place to relax with a home-style cooked meal. There are outdoor tables for seating where you can distance safely and enjoy the nice weather. There is plenty of street parking available too.

Alhough I have eaten at pizza places in the area, this place is my favorite and I always recommend it to others.

The next time you visit Mount Holly, stop by. You may find your new favorite place to eat.
