During the winter of 2021-2022, there was a winter blow that left motorists stranded on a major highway in Virginia for almost 24 hours. The news reported this as a “near death” experience wherein people almost froze to death. The cause of their impending doom was running out of gasoline and having to turn their automobiles off, thus shutting down the heaters.

When I was a kid, I used to watch The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. I also watched reruns as a teenager and have caught episodes throughout my “adult” life. They always produced guffaws and serious face cramping grins! One of the show’s regular features was entitled, “Peabody’s Improbable History”. The lead-in credits always depicted a parade coming through town announcing the Peabody segment.

They breathlessly recite the deadliness, the widespread sorrow and never-ending tragedy associated with the new variant. Headlines are seemingly limiting their reporting to “new cases”. Indeed, this heated diatribe continues unabated.

ANSI (American National Standards Institute) works in conjunction with regulatory agencies like OSHA to establish minimum quality and performance standards of products and equipment, along with scientific testing procedures to be used industrywide.

This week there were reports in our nation’s capital, there was a running gun battle down the street in one of the most popular dining districts in D.C. during the height of the dinner rush. Video shows a white-clad black fellow firing into a crowd in an attempt to assassinate one of his enemies with frightened Gringos (Yes, there are still some in D.C.) and other patrons scattering in every direction. (Interestingly, not one of those patrons drew a concealed firearm and returned fire???)
