Soon, many Florida residents will need to find a new place to get their office supplies because the major retail store chain Office Depot recently announced that it would be closing at least two store locations in the Sunshine State.
The first Office Depot location in Florida marked for closure was reportedly shuttered on Saturday, February 4, 2023, in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record, who stated that they confirmed the closing date with a store employee.
The affected Office Depot store was located at 8102 Blanding Boulevard in Jacksonville, inside the Crossroads Square shopping center.
According to local reports, Kids Empire, an indoor playground for children, will be moving into the space once Office Depot vacates the location in Jacksonville.
The second Office Depot location that has been marked for closure is located in Orlando at 2112 E. Colonial Drive near the Super Oriental Market, Gong Cha Orlando, and the FedEx ShipSite.
According to the Orlando Business Journal, this Office Depot location is expected to close on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
However, there is another Office Depot location in Orlando, located at 2847 S. Orange Avenue, and it is expected to remain open, so local shoppers shouldn't be too inconvenienced by the closure of the Colonial Drive location.
However, it's always disappointing to learn that a business that has been around as long as Office Depot is closing several of its Florida store locations.
