Kroger, a major supermarket chain with over 2,800 stores in 35 states, has recently announced that it will be closing another one of its locations in Arkansas next month.

The impacted store is located at 6420 Colonel Glenn Road in Little Rock.

According to local sources, the store closing has been scheduled for August 13, 2022.

The closure of the Colonel Glenn Road store will likely have a significant impact on the southwest Little Rock community.

For many residents, Kroger was their closest grocery option. Now, they will have to travel farther to get groceries or rely on delivery services, which may not be feasible for everyone.

According to local reports, community leaders are concerned about what this closure could mean for area residents. When this Kroger location closes its doors, the community will move one step closer to being considered a "food desert."

A food desert is an area that lacks access to fresh and nutritious food. This can be due to a lack of grocery stores or supermarkets that sell healthy food options. Food deserts are often found in low-income communities or rural areas.

According to local reports, transportation is an issue for many of the residents in the area. Traveling father to get essential items like food and medicine often comes at a higher cost, which may be difficult for many people to absorb, especially amid recent inflation.

Unfortunately, next month many Little Rock residents who were used to shopping at this Kroger location will need to choose a different store.
