It's always sad to see a popular local business close its doors for good. Unfortunately, Devil May Care, a popular ice cream parlor in Sacramento, announced on social media Thursday that it would be shutting its doors after being unable to pay back expenses that built up during the pandemic.

The owner posted a simple message on the company's Facebook and Instagram accounts that said:

It's been a good run, but we are closing. Thank you.

The popular ice cream spot, located at 710 K Street, was known for its creative flavors, such as kumquat cake, lavender honey, olive oil apricot, and potato chip cured egg yolk.

The news of the closure has come as a shock to many in the community who have come to enjoy the unique ice cream offerings.

One loyal customer named Anna posted this message about Devil May Care on the company's Facebook page :

I loved the ice cream you made. It helped me through many tough times. Nothing like a pint and a silly movie to get one through a tough time, right! And on the flip side, I had so much fun sharing the fantastic flavors with friends. We all loved it! Thank you.

Unfortunately, many local businesses and restaurants have recently found themselves in similar positions. The pandemic has been tough on small businesses, with many forced to shut their doors for good.

We hope that Devil May Care can find success in the future, and we extend our sympathies to the employees who are losing their jobs. Sacramento will miss this popular ice cream spot.
