A popular Massachusetts grocery store chain just announced that it is being forced to close one of its locations by the end of June.
The popular Massachusetts grocery store chain Market Basket recently announced plans to close one of its three Billerica locations.
The store, located at 496 Boston Road near the Billerica Mall, has been a staple in the community for many years. Its closure will be a significant loss for shoppers. Unfortunately, the grocery store location will be closing for good on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
For many, the store has been a convenient and affordable option, particularly for those who live near the Billerica Mall.
While the company said it was rare for it to close a store, the decision was made to comply with the landlord's wishes. The company recently received notice from their landlord that they would be required to vacate the property by the end of June.
All of the store's associates have been relocated to other Market Basket stores in the area, and the company is committed to ensuring that its customers still have access to the same quality products and service they expect from Market Basket.
The Market Basket store located 1.5 miles south of the Billerica Mall will remain open and be expanded.
The expansion will include a new Market's Kitchen and Cafe with seating, a full-service Certified Angus Beef butcher case, an exclusive Niji Sushi department, and a fresh Cut Fruit & Vegetable department.
This is exciting news for the community as it will provide more jobs and better access to fresh food.
