St. Paul to host AAPI Small Business Expo this weekend featuring business workshops, job fair, and giveaways

More than 70 local businesses will be featured at the AAPI Small Business Expo in St. Paul on May 14, 2022. The event will include business training workshops, networking opportunities, a job fair, scholarship awards, prize giveaways, and more.

In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Minnesota Hmong Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the first-ever AAPI Small Business Expo.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 14th, from 9 am to 6 pm at the Metro State University located at 700 E 7th Street in St. Paul.

Dozens of local Asian American businesses will be present at the expo. There will be plenty of business networking opportunities, a job fair, business training workshops, coaching, and speaker presentations.

The business workshops will cover topics such as:

  • Step to starting a business
  • Business financing
  • Branding and marketing
  • Managing business credit
  • Intellectual property and trademarks
  • Government contracting
  • SBA resources and loans
  • Business development essentials
  • Mental wellness for business owners
  • Import and export businesses, and
  • Communication and storytelling.

In addition to the business training workshops, two additional panel discussions will be presented. Starting at 11:30 am, the first panel will cover "achieving success and overcoming challenges" in business. The second-panel discussion beginning at 2 pm, will be on "optimizing financial resources."

There will also be $1500 in scholarship funds given away at the expo, as well as additional prize giveaways and more.

The event is free for students who show an ID card at the door. Tickets for non-student attendees are $10.
