This month, Walmart is closing several stores across the country due to poor performance, one of which is located at 900 Boston Post Road in Guilford, Connecticut.

The planned date for the permanent closure to customers is May 20th. Until that time, Walmart will be selling many items on clearance to get rid of as much remaining inventory as possible.

According to the Walmart location's Facebook page, the store was targeted for closure "mainly due to underperformance."

The Guilford Walmart store's page also mentions that they will be working with current employees to see if they can be transferred to other Walmart stores so that this is no disruption in their employment with the company.

Some area customers chimed on with how Walmart could have improved this store location. For example, one commenter suggested,

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the biggest problem is the lack of parking and a poorly designed parking lot. Overall, I have avoided that plaza for years for that reason.

Another former customer chimed in to say,

I think they could've done a better job stocking what their customers would be most likely to buy. Guilford is an affluent town that tends to buy organic. For example, I would go to the Branford Walmart for certain items.

For now, the Guilford Walmart store location is set to close by the end of May. However, it is unknown if another store plans to move into the site.
