Walmart is closing another one of its stores in Connecticut. They are selling the remaining items at clearance prices to clear out the store before it closes its doors for good next month.
Currently, there are 33 Walmart locations throughout Connecticut. However, on May 20, 2022, there will only be 32 remaining as the company plans to close its Guilford store located at 900 Boston Road in the Shoreline Plaza.
According to the information posted on the Town of Guilford Facebook page three days ago, "the store will begin clearance sales to sell as much remaining merchandise as possible."
If you live near this location, you may have an opportunity to purchase certain items like electronics, clothes, toys, and other household products at a deep discount.
There are currently 98 people who work at the Guilford Walmart location. Those employees will be allowed to transfer to an alternate Walmart location in the area. The closest Walmart to the Guilford location is the Branford store, about nine miles away.
For those who are used to shopping at this Walmart location and wondering where else to go, the New Haven and Old Saybrook locations are your next closest alternatives once the Shoreline Plaza location closes. Both are about a twenty-minute drive from Guilford.
While Walmart hasn't closed any stores in Connecticut since the summer of 2016, they have recently begun closing a number of stores across the country, including locations in Ohio, Washington, and Kentucky.
Will the closing of the Guilford Walmart impact your shopping routine?
