Per the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities,

Montgomery County, Ohio has one of the largest populations in the State of Ohio with individuals that have special needs, students.

There are so many families that are not aware of all the events, activities, functions, and resources that are available in Montgomery County, Ohio specifically for individuals with special needs.

After a small group of parents in Huber Heights, Ohio kept running into each other at various events and functions that their children with special needs were attending, they (we) decided that we needed a website! We kept swapping info with other people and sharing the information that each of us had on various programs, events, and resources. We realized that a website where ALL the parents and family members could go to see all the events that were available would be utterly beneficial! We could take the information that everyone knew and post it in one place! “The Our Brave Kids Website” was birthed! That was almost 20 years ago.

Today, in addition to posting our Upcoming Events, our website also houses what we feel is vital information for parents with children who have special needs. Vital information related to community resources as well as educational material.

This year, I combined all of the informational resources and developed a “Digital Edition” that can be shared! The Digital Edition contains direct links to the resources that can be accessed when viewed on a device.

A highlight of what the Digital Edition contains is:

  • Adult Day Service Programs
  • Arts & Crafts Programs
  • Bowling
  • Dance
  • Social Networking
  • Summer Camps
  • Swimming Programs
    and more!

We also included Education Material:

  • Adult Transitioning
  • Financial Assistance
  • Guardianship in Ohio
  • Housing Information

There is a TON of information in our Digital Edition that will be a huge asset to any parent or family member that has a loved one with disabilities.

COLUMBUS – The Ohio House of Representatives this week passed the Indexing the Homestead Exemption to Inflation Act, announced State Rep. Rodney Creech (R-West Alexandria).
