Big changes for Shops of Kelly Mill, including tentative Lidl opening date

(Forsyth County, GA) Anyone driving near the intersection of Bethelview and Kelly Mill Road has probably noticed the construction underway at the Shops at Kelly Mill. Existing businesses are moving, new outparcels are being developed, and a new building will be open this fall. Plus, the Lidl finally has a tentative opening date.

The Shops of Kelly Mill has three planned building phases and two outparcels. Currently, only Phase 1, a 15,186-square-foot neighborhood center, is complete. Phase Two will have 15,380 square feet of additional space, while Phase Three will be slightly smaller with 5,000-7,000 square feet of space that will likely be primarily for medical or office use.

One of the outparcels is the yet-to-be-opened Lidl. Property agent Bob Francisco says that Lidl now expects to officially open in March 2024. This is consistent with earlier confirmed reports that the long-awaited grocery store would not open until next year. Francisco also confirmed that the long delay was not related to problems with the building itself or Forsyth County issues, but because Lidl needed to complete a new warehouse to ensure consistency in supply.

The Crossfit currently located in the Phase One building will be moving to the new Phase Two building, which is currently under construction in the space adjacent to Luna’s. The popular gym's new facility will have double the space of its current location. Francisco reports that other Phase Two tenants will likely include a medical office and a restaurant on the endcap.

There’s no word yet on what tenant will take over Crossfit’s existing space in the Phase One building. However, next to the Crossfit, the space formerly occupied by Luca Brasi’s Pizzeria is now home to Gardenia Mediterranean Restaurant. Several residents have praised its authentic Greek and Italian cuisine on social media.

The Phase Three building and the second outparcel are also currently under development. Francisco told us that the outparcel will be home to the Georgia-based pizza chain Peace Love and Pizza. Founded in 2010, the restaurant features handcrafted pizzas, wings, salads, and desserts, plus a vegan menu. Peace Love and Pizza plans to open this fall.
