(Forsyth County, GA) Interested in trying a new restaurant? With several new spots opening in Forsyth County lately, you’re in luck – though you might have some trouble eating at the new Whataburger.

Located in the Lakeland Plaza shopping center, the drive-through-only Whataburger officially opened on April 27 to huge crowds. Long lines have been typical since then, but residents reported this week that the restaurant has been experiencing temporary closures due to road work in the drive-through area. Calls today to the restaurant went unanswered, and their social media page says they are temporarily closed. However, residents report that they are open off and on. Our best advice? Have a backup plan in mind before heading to the popular burger spot just in case.

Whataburger is located at 503 Lakeland Plaza in Cumming and is usually open for drive-through service 24 hours a day.

If you’d rather try something else, you could try another new restaurant like Gardenia Mediterranean Restaurant. Located in the Shops at Kelly Mill shopping center in the spot previously occupied by Luca Brasi’s pizzeria, the restaurant plans to serve healthy, hearty Greek and Italian-inspired cuisine. The restaurant already had a successful soft opening last week. After hiring more staff they plan to open for lunch and dinner daily soon.

Gardenia Mediterranean Restaurant is located at 4335 Bethelview Road in Cumming.

Finally, the long-awaited Guthrie’s in Cumming opened on Tuesday, May 9. Issues during the county inspection process frustrated fans of the chicken finger chain. But now that those issues have been resolved, the restaurant plans to serve the Coal Mountain community and the surrounding area plenty of their famous “golden-fried” chicken fingers.

The first Guthrie’s opened in 1982 in Auburn, Alabama. Thanks to its popularity with Tigers fans, the chain quickly spread throughout the Southeast. Diners can enjoy chicken fingers, chicken sandwiches, fries, cole slaw, and sweet tea. The restaurant keeps its menu simple to focus on “fresh, hot, fast” service.

The new Guthrie’s is located at 3685 Browns Bridge Road in Cumming and their regular business hours will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
