(Forsyth County, GA) It’s shaping up to be a busy weekend at Halcyon. With Cinco de Mayo celebrations on Friday, Kentucky Derby parties on Saturday, and the Artists Market all weekend, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Cinco de Mayo Celebrations
First up on Friday, CT Cantina and Taqueria, Eclipse di Luna, and Hobnob are all hosting Cinco de Mayo Celebrations. The CT Cantina and Taqueria Street Party will be held in the Halcyon event lot from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It will feature a DJ, stilt walkers, jugglers, balloon twisters, face painting, fire baton twirlers, and other kid-friendly activities and games. For the parents, premium margaritas will also be available.
The Eclipse di Luna party starts at 1 p.m. and will last until the wee hours of 2 a.m. It will feature an outside taco station, drink specials, and live music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. If you want to grab lunch before the party starts, they are opening early for lunch at 11 a.m. on Friday.
The party at Hobnob will be from 6:30 p.m. until close. Guests will enjoy margaritas and taco specials while they listen to the music of a live seven-piece Latin band.
To keep the celebration going, there will be a beer garden at the BBQ Guys Design Center patio during the Street Party and a wine tasting at Rise and Wine from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. as well. If you plan to partake, Halcyon recommends using a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft.
Halcyon Spring Market
On Saturday and Sunday, the Halcyon Spring Artist Market will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’re looking for a unique gift for graduation or Mother’s Day, now’s your chance – there will be more than 50 artisans there offering items including handcrafted jewelry, pottery, clothing, paintings, candles, and collegiate items.
The Artist Market will also feature live music, a permanent jewelry pop-up, fresh flower trucks, “fairy hair” artists, and dog adoptions with Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters.
Kentucky Derby Parties
The Kentucky Derby has been held annually on the first Saturday in May since 1875. This important Thoroughbred racing competition draws crowds to Churchill Downs every year during the two-week Kentucky Derby Festival.
If you can’t be there in person, you can still be part of the excitement by attending one of the Derby-themed events at Halcyon. Don your fanciest hats and prepare to sip mint juleps at Hobnob’s party all day on Saturday and a Derby-themed wine tasting at Rise and Wine from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The actual Kentucky Derby race is set for 6:57 p.m. ET on Saturday evening.
