(Forsyth County, GA) Looking for a new place to grab a quick bite in Cumming? A new Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop opened this week in the Kroger Marketplace shopping center near the intersection of Castleberry and Bethelview Road.
The popular sandwich shop features cold subs with deli meats like turkey, ham, and roast beef. It also boasts a variety of Italian sub meats like cappacuolo, prosciuttini, and salami.
Prefer a hot sandwich? Jersey Mike’s also has several cheesesteak options. Popular choices include Mike’s Famous Philly and the Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak.
Guests who want an authentic Jersey Mike’s experience can try a sub prepared “Mike's Way” with fresh lettuce, onions, tomatoes, oil, vinegar, and spices. Chips, cookies, brownies, and a selection of Pepsi fountain drinks round out the menu. For a crowd or party, catering options are also available.
As the name implies, Jersey Mike’s was started in New Jersey in 1956. It opened in Point Pleasant on the famous Jersey Shore as a small sandwich shop, Mike’s Subs, and remained a popular local spot for years. A high school student, Peter Cancro, began working at the shop in 1971 at the age of 14. When he was 17, he bought it – with the help of his football coach, who happened to also be a local banker.
The business thrived, and in 1987 the store re-branded as Jersey Mike’s and began franchising. Today, Cancro is still CEO of the company, but it now has over 2,000 locations nationwide, including another store in Cumming and several others in the nearby area.
The new Jersey Mike’s joins other restaurants in the Kroger Marketplace shopping center including Culver’s, Domino’s, and a Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
Jersey Mike’s is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. The address is 5740 Steeplechase Boulevard, Suite 107.
