Popular Chick-fil-A location in Forsyth County closing for remodel

(Forsyth County, GA) Chick-fil-A fans in southern Forsyth County will temporarily have to find another location to satisfy their cravings for chicken nuggets and waffle fries. The Chick-fil-A at the Collection recently announced it would be closing beginning Sunday, October 9 for a store remodel.

Visitors to The Collection know that this Chick-fil-A location can get very busy. Despite double drive-through lanes, traffic frequently backs up from the parking lot and onto the main road. The restaurant is often crowded at lunchtime and stays busy throughout the early afternoon as a popular after-school hangout spot for South Forsyth High School students. Operator Gene Reeves has been with Chick-fil-A for more than 38 years.

News of the remodel follows a 2021 closing at the same location to revamp drive-thru lanes and the opening of a new Chick-fil-A location at Larry Mulkey Memorial Road earlier this year. The much larger building and parking area replaced the former Lanier Crossing location by Hobby Lobby, helping ease traffic and parking issues.

The chicken chain is based in Atlanta, but it’s not just a regional favorite. This year, the American Customer Satisfaction Index announced that Chick-fil-A is America’s favorite fast food restaurant for the fifth year running.

With the chain's popularity and Forsyth County’s growing population, new Chick-fil-A locations are in the works. In 2020, the Forsyth County Commission approved a zoning amendment specifically to allow the construction of a Chick-fil-A at Halcyon, even though Halcyon's original zoning does not allow drive-through businesses. There's no official word on when the Halcyon location will open yet, but the Chick-fil-A website says it is “Coming Soon." Recently, rumors have been going around that another Chick-fil-A may be built at the new Publix shopping center currently under construction at the intersection of Post Road and Highway 20.

The Chick-fil-A at The Collection is located at 430 Peachtree Parkway and is typically open Monday-Saturday from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Like all Chick-fil-A locations, they are closed on Sundays.

At this time, no reopening date has been announced.
