A new place to do your grocery shopping opening soon in Forsyth County

Forsyth County residents will soon enjoy a new grocery shopping experience at the Lidl opening at The Shops of Kelly Mill. Located at the corner of Bethelview Road and Kelly Mill Road, Lidl will be the first small specialty grocery store in the western part of the county.

“I’m looking forward to trying it out,” says Forsyth County resident Jennifer Bouch. “The location is convenient [and the] store itself has rave reviews.”

For residents who are not yet familiar with the brand, Lidl is a German-owned company. Though it’s sometimes confused with Aldi, another popular German-owned grocery chain, the two stores are not related. Though smaller than Publix or Kroger, Lidl grocery stores will have everyday food items like fresh produce and meats. Lidl is also known for its bakery, cheese, and international sections. At some locations, shoppers can also find items like clothing, toys, and home décor.

Lidl has been operating in Europe since 1973 and has stores in 32 countries. However, it is a relative newcomer in the United States, opening its first store in 2017. Despite its late entry into the market, there are now several Lidl locations in Georgia. Lidl added a store in Suwanee last May and a new Buford location is scheduled to open on April 20th.

Though a grand opening date has not yet been announced for the new Forsyth County location, shoppers can look forward to a big event when it arrives. For the Buford grand opening, Lidl is advertising a ribbon-cutting ceremony, special deals, music, and balloons. There will also be giveaways for free samples, gift cards, and Lidl-branded items. The first 100 customers will also receive a Lidl gift card. It’s likely that Forsyth County residents will get the same perks for their grand opening.
