A group of Black professionals are upset and are demanding an apology from an Orlando restaurant after they claim they were kicked out in order to accommodate another party that needed to be seated. According to an article published by Atlanta Black Star, the incident happened in mid-September at DoveCote restaurant in downtown Orlando.
One of the members of the group, Stephanie Tolbert, claims that she made reservations for the eatery through "Open Table", and that she was not told that there was a time limit for the table. However, after being in the establishment for an hour and a half - the group was asked to leave. The article claimed that although officers were called to the location, the officers told them that they did nothing wrong and advised them to "document the incident and reach out to management".
In an interview with Roland Martin on "Unfiltered", Leon Gantt said, "The police were very nice. They even said to us that we will walk out first so that it doesn't seem like we are escorting you out. However, because this is a private organization, we had to leave". The group is asking the establishment for a formal apology and a complete refund.
