A lot of criminals do whatever it takes not to get caught while they're on the run. According to an article published by NBC News, an Oklahoma man did just that, however - he took it to the extreme.
According to reports, Melvin Phillip Emde, 41, of Tahihina, Oklahoma, was taken into custody Sunday, September 17, in GA after taking officers on a wild goose chase that eventually ended with Emde crashing his motorcycle. According to reports, authorities began tracking Emde after he allegedly faked drowning in the Mississippi River while kayaking.
However, authorities became suspicious after finding out that Emde was due to appear in court in Brunswick County "as part of a case in which he faced charges of indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape of a child", according to reports. St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne released a statement saying, "Now it's time for Mr. Emde to face the music for his charges in North Carolina". It is not clear where Emde is being held at the moment.
