Burgers are without a doubt one of the most popular food items in America. There are few things more American than eating a big, juicy, grilled burger with your favorite toppings and a cold beverage of your choice. National Hamburger Day, which originated in 2010, is on Sunday, May 28, and many people will likely be firing up the grill to cook some burgers - or, they will go to one of their favorite eateries to get their burger fix. A major national site just recently published a list of the best burger spots in America in celebration of National Hamburger Day, and not one but two NC eateries made the top 10! In May 2023, ahead of National Hamburger Day, Yelp published an article named, "Yelp's Top 100 Burgers in America". Although this was a very tall task for the site, according to Yelp they determined which burger spots were the best based on a number of key factors that include total volume and ratings of reviews. They also did not discriminate based on what kind of burgers an eatery makes or even if it is a chain restaurant. For instance, a vegan eatery came in at #3, and national chains such as Shake Shack (#36) and In-N-Out (#78) made the list! The two NC eateries that made the list are The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar in Charlotte and Sister Liu's Kitchen in Durham!
According to Yelp, The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar in Charlotte serves fresh, never frozen burgers, sushi, and a plethora of other great items in the fusion eatery. With 18 outstanding specialty burgers on the menu, many diners rate the eatery very highly on Yelp! Sister Liu's in Durham, which specializes in Chinese cuisine, is one of the most unique burger spots on the list according to Yelp considering that the eatery makes its burgers with pork. Most diners that left reviews on the site pretty much agreed that the burgers at the eatery are almost "perfect".
