South Carolina has been recognized for many things over the years. "The Palmetto State" has some of the best BBQ in the nation, some of the most picturesque towns you will ever see, and is one of the most sought-after retirement destinations in the country. You can add one more thing to the list as well because one major national publication thinks that one small coastal town is the "friendliest town in the United States"! In this article, we will take a look at which major national publication named the SC town the friendliest in the United States, and which SC town it is, as well as take a look at a few other towns that made the list as well. Just a heads up - they were not the only SC town to make the list!

In January 2023, published an article titled, "10 of The Friendliest Towns in The United States". According to the article, the publication based its picks on experiences from vacationers across the nation who travel frequently. The friendliest town in the United States is none other than - Beaufort! The top 10 included Savannah, Georgia at #10, Charleston at #9, Alexandria, Virginia at #8, Honolulu, Hawaii at #7, Santa Fe, New Mexico at #6, Tuscon, Arizona at #5, Key West, Florida at #4, Telluride, Colorado at #3, and Asheville, North Carolina at #2!

According to the article, Beaufort is often cited as the best example of "Southern Hospitality", and has often been referred to as one of the nicest places in the United States. In addition to its warm southern hospitality, the town is the perfect vacation destination with a plethora of historic landmarks, world-class cuisine, and "beautiful antebellum buildings".
