NASHVILLE, TN — Tallu Schuyler Quinn, founder and former CEO of The Nashville Food Project, received the honor as Les Dames d’Escoffier International Woman of Purpose Award recipient. She came out as the winner out of twenty other nominees.

Les Dames d’Escoffier International (LDEI) presents the Woman of Purpose Award to honor woman's positive impact in the local or global community. The positive impact should incorporate global sustainability, food justice and public health. Quinn helps to engage the community and alleviate hunger through The Nashville Food Project (TNFP), a Nashville-based community food project that aims to run a just and sustainable food system.

TNFP started as a modest church kitchen with a few volunteers and a truck delivering food and bottled water to homeless camps. In a decade, the project has grown with interrelated initiatives, including community meals, food recovery and community farms to help farmers and the community in the area.

According to TNFP 2020 community impact report, the organization documented a $40,296 earning from eight Growing Together farmers in 2020. Growing Together is TNFP's program that supports farmers, mainly refugees, in selling organic vegetables and generating personal income.

“We have to practice what we hope for as if what we hope for might be possible. We have to flex our muscles of imagination, and we have to keep flexing, for the bearing witness matters," Quinn said.

Quinn is also nominated as one of the 2021 Salute to Excellence finalists in the CEO of the year category. Quinn recently announced her departure from the CEO role due to her health condition. She will focus on her recovery and maintain her role as the founder of TNFP.
