Penguins and The FRIENDS™ Expreience

The Shedd Aquarium penguins visited the famed FRIENDS™ show set. Their chaperones accompany thirty-six Megellanic penguins on daily field trips. According to Christie Sterling, one of the chaperones, what the penguins miss the most is interaction with humans.

Just four penguins got the once in a lifetime opportunity to waddle around the FRIENDS™ apartment and Central Perk. Videos of the cute feathered creatures have helped cheer up folks shielding in their homes since the pandemic started.

The FRIENDS™ Experience is due to reopen in Chicago on March 17. The sets feature original props and costumes. Check out the photo of Monica's character with that turkey on her head!

The merchandise shop has a Central Perk coffee cup for $24.95 and long-sleeved t-shirts for $29.95. You'll also find all sorts of accessories and souvenirs of your visit starting at $7.95 for a fridge magnet up to $24.95 for a bright green Central Perk beanie hat.

Ticket prices start at $35 excluding taxes or fees. You can buy yours here.

Soldier Field Stadium

One of the penguins visits was to Soldier Field Stadium. Friday March 19th marks the day the stadium celebrates St Patrick's Day. Organisers are offering a Suite Night Out for $200 per couple. Two couples are allowed per suite.

All food is prepackaged before arrival. If you'd like a hot dinner to accompany your wine and snacks, add another $100 to the price per couple.

If you are longing for a night out, you are over 21, and would love to walk around the stadium taking photos/videos and watch a movie on the jumbotron, this is a 'suite' deal! Suites are limited so you will need to get in there quick!

Property

As of August 17, 2020, this property on Emerald Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, reduced in price by 91.7% from $120,000 to $10,000. That's right.

As of today, the property is still up for sale with Zillow. As you might suspect, the area is not the greatest and the property needs work to rehabilitate four units.

When I bought my very first property in a rough area, I mentioned to my lawyer that it was not an up and coming neighbourhood. He very kindly said:

Yes, madam, however, I am certain you will raise the tone.

I'm certain a courageous entrepreneur will raise the $10,000 and rejuvenate not only the four units but the area too. Change has to start somewhere. Why not here?

Live Concerts Scheduled

Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island (a Live Nation venue) has its first concert of the year scheduled for June 18 2021. Many people bought tickets for the original date of August 20 2020. Their tickets are valid for this year's rescheduled concert in June and fans can use the same tickets.

The even better news is that folks who don't have tickets already and would like to see this Australian four man band, 5 Seconds of Summer, can still buy tickets for their gig. Season tickets are also available for 2021, apply here.

Dave Matthews Band and David Gray are playing in July. If you are fans of these fantastic musicians, get your tickets booked ASAP!

Art Exhibitions

Art Institute Chicago has some stunning exhibitions planned for this year. Their Monet and Chicago exhibition is sold out today, but tickets are still available for tomorrow through June 14 2021. Prices start at $14 for general admission. A Chicago CityPass valid for 9 days starts at $89.

Fans of Tiffany glass may enjoy Landscape in Light: The Tiffany Window at the Art Institute of Chicago. The exhibition opens May 29th.

Here's a little beauty to tide you over until May.

We simply have to end today's local Chicago, Illinois news bulletin with more of the fabulous penguins. The video that launched the careers of the penguins is below. Please, enjoy watching these little fellows stroll through their aquarium.

What's better than watching a delightful story about penguins keeping fit? Pugs or kittens? Puppies?
