Freezing weather shelter open due to freezing temperatures, collective to end homelessness now accepting board members

BEWARE: Freezing temperatures

The Baltimore County Emergency Management team has opened the Freezing Weather Shelter now until Monday due to freezing temperatures below 32 degrees. The shelter is open to anyone in need, just go to the O.W.E. Center at 6901 Security Blvd., Windsor Mill, MD 21244. They ask that people arrive between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., and residents can stay until 7 a.m. unless weather conditions require otherwise. Call 410-887-8463 (Option 1) for a referral during business hours, and call 410-583-9398 after hours.

Know the upcoming holiday schedule for businesses

If you and your family plan to venture out this holiday weekend be sure to check ahead of time with businesses for their holiday hours. Some places will be closed throughout the holiday weekend, Thursday-Sunday, while others will operate on shortened schedules.

Join the collective effort to end homelessness

The Baltimore City Continuum of Care (CoC) is now accepting nominations for board members. The CoC program is designed to promote community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness and provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, and state and local governments. Fill out this form to nominate someone or yourself.
