I read this story here and I could not resist writing about it. What would you do if you were faced with similar circumstances?
The subject is a 32-year-old male who was invited to the wedding of a female friend. He states that he loves weddings, and though they were acquaintances they were not besties. He was excited to go to the wedding and promised to buy a relatively pricey gift, some sort of gaming console and monitor. The bride was aware of his 'promised' gift.
Sometime before the wedding, he was called aside by the bride and politely told she had to disinvite him from the wedding due to financial reasons. He later learned from a friend that they were still invited, though he had been uninvited, and that the real reason was to free up space for family members.
The young man states he would rather have been told the real reason why he got the disinvite and he further decided not to give the couple the pricey gaming gift he had initially intended to. A few weeks after the wedding he received a call from the bride seeking information as to when the gaming present would be delivered.
At that time, he told her he decided not to give them the gift after all. He claims he still did not disclose that he was aware of the real reason she had disinvited him, but even so, the bride then got pretty upset, called him a few choice names, and even told the story to their group chat members.
Do share your thoughts, what do you guys think? Was he wrong to be upset about being disinvited to the point that he decided not to give them the gift?
Do you think he was being petty?
