***This story was told to me by a friend who is a first responder. Told with permission***
A man dies in the bed of his female lover, the problem is that his lover is his wife’s best friend.
My friend who is a paramedic told me he was sent out on a distress call to an upscale neighborhood in Manhattan, New York some years ago. Upon their entry into the address, a disheveled and sobbing older female answered the door. She gestured wildly towards a room where a naked older man lay face down in a prone position.
They carefully turned the patient onto his back and noted that he was unresponsive. Further assessment revealed that their patient was deceased. They called their medical director as is the protocol and they pronounced the patient ‘deceased’.
Generally, as a rule, paramedics do not transport deceased people, but after the story unfolded, out of compassion, this is exactly just what they did.
This is the story they were told…
The man in the bed was the husband of her best friend. The women had been best friends for over twenty years. Initially, when her husband was alive, they went about and did things together, but after she became a widow, they maintained their friendship. As time passed, she began having an affair with her friend’s husband.
They would meet each other, two to three times a week as time allowed.
Today they were in bed and suddenly during intercourse, she felt him go limp and collapse on top of her. She tried calling him and shaking him, but there was no response. Eventually, after some struggle, she was able to push him off her and ran to call 911 for help. She begged the first responders to please take him out of her apartment as this was no way for her friend to find out that her best friend was having an affair with her husband and that he died in her bed.
He told how she was sobbing and begging them to help her.
They decided to transport the deceased cheater to the hospital.
When they arrived at the hospital, the wife came crying through the main doors and you can probably guess who was there beside her to offer comfort and support … the best friend in whose bed he dies during sex!
My friend said they could do nothing besides shake their heads and leave them to grieve.

This is not the first, nor the last time such things have occurred. Please share your thoughts.
Should they have had compassion for the situation and transported the body against protocol? Or should they have left him there for the medical examiner to collect and for his wife to find out about his duplicity?
What would you have done?
