FoCo Sheriff's Office arrests 3 suspected international crime ring members

(Forsyth County, GA) The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) arrested three suspects believed to be involved in an international theft ring. Maykel Hernandez, Giorge Navea and Javier Guerra-Morales were arrested in connection to several burglaries. They are all being charged with burglary - smash and grab and criminal damage to property. "This is another excellent example of good police work and even better detective work by our Property Crimes Unit,” said Sheriff Ron Freeman. “We are steadfast in our pursuit of these South American Theft Groups and these criminals are quickly learning, South America is where they should have stayed. If they are on U.S. soil, FCSO will spare no expense or effort and will recognize no boundary in pursuing and arresting them. Endanger our citizens and you will quickly find out who FCSO and Forsyth County are." Public Information Officer Stacie Miller said deputies were called to Simon D. Jewelers on Peachtree Parkway last December after its alarm went off and found signs of forced entry through the roof. Miller said nothing was taken due to the quick response of the deputies and the business’ security system. The FCSO believed the attempted burglary was the work of a theft group from South America or similar groups who were involved in a string of burglaries targeting homes and businesses around metro Atlanta and in over a dozen other states. The three suspects in custody are also suspects in burglaries and attempted burglaries in Marietta, Canton, Alpharetta and Knoxville, TN.
