(Forsyth County, GA) Mike Seymour has been named Forsyth County’s new chief information officer, replacing former CIO Brandon Kenney.

Seymour was previously the county's director of Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) from 2017 to 2019. He also worked as a client executive II at NTT DATA, where he was in charge of EA accounts in the eastern regions across several industries. He has over 20 years of experience in the field.

“We are thrilled to see Mike Seymour return to the County and fill the role of chief information officer,” said County Manager David McKee. “His experience and background in the technology sector and with the County make him an excellent fit as a manager of Forsyth County’s IT resources.”

Seymour led the project management office, applications support and applications development during his time as director of IS&T, resulting in 95 percent of the projects he led hitting their expected go-live dates in his first year as director.

The new director also completed several programs within the technology field including:

  • Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Spartans Training
  • EDS Manufacturing Enterprise Leadership Program
  • EDS Account Leadership Program
  • EDS System Engineering Development Program

He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a minor in computer science.

FoCo Sheriff's Office arrests 3 suspected international crime ring members

(Forsyth County, GA) The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) arrested three suspects believed to be involved in an international theft ring. Maykel Hernandez, Giorge Navea and Javier Guerra-Morales were arrested in connection to several burglaries. They are all being charged with burglary - smash and grab and criminal damage to property. "This is another excellent example of good police work and even better detective work by our Property Crimes Unit,” said Sheriff Ron Freeman. “We are steadfast in our pursuit of these South American Theft Groups and these criminals are quickly learning, South America is where they should have stayed. If they are on U.S. soil, FCSO will spare no expense or effort and will recognize no boundary in pursuing and arresting them. Endanger our citizens and you will quickly find out who FCSO and Forsyth County are." Public Information Officer Stacie Miller said deputies were called to Simon D. Jewelers on Peachtree Parkway last December after its alarm went off and found signs of forced entry through the roof. Miller said nothing was taken due to the quick response of the deputies and the business’ security system. The FCSO believed the attempted burglary was the work of a theft group from South America or similar groups who were involved in a string of burglaries targeting homes and businesses around metro Atlanta and in over a dozen other states. The three suspects in custody are also suspects in burglaries and attempted burglaries in Marietta, Canton, Alpharetta and Knoxville, TN.
