Cumming job fair seeks to fill part-time and entry-level city jobs

(Forsyth County, GA) Several part-time and entry-level job opportunities will be available at the City of Cumming’s upcoming Career Fair on Thursday, April 27.

Many of the city’s departments are looking to fill openings at the job fair, including

  • Cumming Aquatic Center
  • Cumming Fairgrounds
  • City of Cumming Recreation & Parks Department
  • Cumming Police Department
  • Cumming Planning & Zoning Department
  • Cumming Streets Department
  • All divisions of Cumming Utilities

Some of the current job openings include part-time positions for lifeguards, water safety instructors and a ballet instructor.

According to the city’s website, many city jobs come with:

  • Nine paid holidays per year
  • 144 paid time off (PTO) hours after six months of work (PTO hours increase after 6, 16 and 26 years of employment)
  • City-paid defined benefit retirement plan (after five years of employment)
  • Access to Nationwide 457b supplemental retirement account
  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield preferred provider organization (PPO) health insurance (after 60 days of employment)
  • City-paid short-term disability and life insurance
  • American Fidelity supplemental insurance policies

The City of Cumming Job Fair will be held on Thursday, April 27 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Cumming City Hall at 100 Main Street, Gallery B on the second floor.

FoCo Sheriff's Office arrests 3 suspected international crime ring members

(Forsyth County, GA) The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) arrested three suspects believed to be involved in an international theft ring. Maykel Hernandez, Giorge Navea and Javier Guerra-Morales were arrested in connection to several burglaries. They are all being charged with burglary - smash and grab and criminal damage to property. Jewelers on Peachtree Parkway last December after its alarm went off and found signs of forced entry through the roof. Miller said nothing was taken due to the quick response of the deputies and the business’ security system. The FCSO believed the attempted burglary was the work of a theft group from South America or similar groups who were involved in a string of burglaries targeting homes and businesses around metro Atlanta and in over a dozen other states. The three suspects in custody are also suspects in burglaries and attempted burglaries in Marietta, Canton, Alpharetta and Knoxville, TN.
