FoCo congressman to hold ‘Telephone Town Hall’

(Forsyth County, GA) Residents of Georgia’s 6th Congressional District (which includes Forsyth County) will be able to ask their newly elected representative questions directly on Thursday, March 23.

U.S. Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA-06) is hosting a “telephone town hall” for his constituents at 7 p.m. this Thursday. He will be answering questions and discussing the issues Congress faces today.

"I'm looking forward to hearing about YOUR priorities for our community and our country, and how I can best serve Georgia families," said McCormick. "We are working together every day to secure the border, strengthen the economy, support our troops and veterans, and ensure parents are the ultimate authority in their children's education. I hope you'll join us."

To ask questions or to listen in, participants will need to dial 833-998-0870.

The 6th Congressional District covers Forsyth and Dawson County, and portions of Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett and Cherokee counties.

The Telephone Town Hall will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m.

(Forsyth County, GA) One man is dead and one injured after a shooting occurred in Forsyth County Wednesday morning on Ivy Street. Around 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, Forsyth County deputies responded to calls about a shooting in progress at 2535 Ivy Street. Deputies arrived within four minutes of receiving the 911 calls and found that two men had been shot, one deceased and one in critical condition.

(Forsyth County, GA) The Forsyth County and City of Cumming 2023 Water Quality Reports are now available for public viewing. Most of the city and county’s water is drawn from Lake Lanier. Every year more than 150,000 tests are conducted by the Environmental Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Forsyth County and the City of Cumming to monitor tap water for harmful minerals, organisms and organic substances. (Forsyth County, GA) The latest graduates of Forsyth County’s Pups with Purpose program are eagerly waiting for their “furever homes.”. Pups with Purpose is a partnership between the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. Inmates at the Forsyth County Jail are given an opportunity to be paired with dogs from the shelter to care for them and give them basic obedience training.

Driver arrested after leading FoCo deputy on 140 mph chase

(Forsyth County, GA) A 19-year-old driver was arrested last week in Forsyth County for leading a deputy on a pursuit reaching speeds of up to 140 mph. According to a Facebook post from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy traveling eastbound on Canton Highway was passed by a white BMW going in the opposite direction at 87 mph in a 45 mph zone.
