Town Hall to be held for FoCo residents in District 4

(Forsyth County, GA) Forsyth County citizens residing in District 4 of the county are invited to a town hall on Monday, March 20.

District 4 Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills will be holding the town hall at the East Forsyth High School theater to give updates on happenings within the district such as road projects and Lanierland Park improvements. Attendees can also submit questions at the town hall.

District 4 is located in the northeastern part of the county, but some areas of the district have changed due to redistricting in 2022.

The District 4 Town Hall will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the East Forsyth High School theater at 8910 Jot Em Down Road in Gainsville.

“I now represent a new district that contains a huge area with folks I have never met before,” Mills stated in a Facebook post. “I want to hear from you. This town hall meeting is a chance for us to get to know each other and for me to hear your questions and concerns about the area you live in. Please try to attend and please share on Facebook. Thanks so much!”

(Forsyth County, GA) A 17-year-old is being charged with Aggravated Assault after stabbing another person at the Fowler Park skate park in Forsyth County on Wednesday, May 24. According to a Facebook post from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), a verbal argument between a group of teenagers and young adults turned into a physical fight during which the 17-year-old suspect stabbed another person. Man dead, 1 injured after shooting each other in Forsyth County warehouse

(Forsyth County, GA) One man is dead and one injured after a shooting occurred in Forsyth County Wednesday morning on Ivy Street. Around 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, Forsyth County deputies responded to calls about a shooting in progress at 2535 Ivy Street. Deputies arrived within four minutes of receiving the 911 calls and found that two men had been shot, one deceased and one in critical condition.

(Forsyth County, GA) The Forsyth County and City of Cumming 2023 Water Quality Reports are now available for public viewing. Most of the city and county’s water is drawn from Lake Lanier. Every year more than 150,000 tests are conducted by the Environmental Protection Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Forsyth County and the City of Cumming to monitor tap water for harmful minerals, organisms and organic substances. This also includes testing for over 100 types of contaminants like pesticides, nitrates, bacteria and metals.

(Forsyth County, GA) The latest graduates of Forsyth County’s Pups with Purpose program are eagerly waiting for their “furever homes.”. Pups with Purpose is a partnership between the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. Inmates at the Forsyth County Jail are given an opportunity to be paired with dogs from the shelter to care for them and give them basic obedience training.

Driver arrested after leading FoCo deputy on 140 mph chase

(Forsyth County, GA) A 19-year-old driver was arrested last week in Forsyth County for leading a deputy on a pursuit reaching speeds of up to 140 mph. According to a Facebook post from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy traveling eastbound on Canton Highway was passed by a white BMW going in the opposite direction at 87 mph in a 45 mph zone.
