(Forsyth County, GA) Keep Forsyth County Beautiful is looking for volunteers to participate in its annual Great FoCo Cleanup event on Saturday, March 25.

The event is part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup campaign, during which volunteers from around the country pick up litter from the roads.

Forsyth County Manager of Environmental Programs Tammy Wright said the roads they choose to clean up every year are slightly different based on the need.

“We do a litter audit which means we drive around the county to see which roads are A: littered and B: safe to clean up,” Wright said. “And it’s different every year, there might be some overlap but it can be different roads depending on what’s dirty…”

Before heading out to the designated roads, participants can pick up supplies at 9 a.m. at one of three locations:

  • Cumming City Hall (100 East Main Street)
  • Coal Mountain Recycling Center (3560 Settingdown Road)
  • The Goddard School (3710 Old Atlanta Road)

An unlimited number of individual participants or groups can sign up to participate. Volunteers will also get a free T-shirt.

Wright said the event is perfect for groups.

“It could be family, Scouts, it could be any sort of civic group or church group or anything like that,” Wright said. “It’s just a fun way to make a difference, and it’s good fun individually as well.”
