Fig and Molasses Cake

Fig and molasses cake is the perfect dessert for the holiday season. The molasses and figs give it a wonderful flavor and using a boxed cake make a moist and flavorful cake. This recipe is easy to follow and sure to please everyone.


· 1 Yellowcake, Spice cake, or Butter Cake mix (if using a spice cake mix omit the spices)

· 1 stick of butter

· 1 cup milk

· 1/4 cup vegetable oil

· 4 eggs

· 1/2 cup Molasses

· 1/2 tsp. ginger

· 1/2 tsp. cloves

· 1 cup chopped figs tossed with 2 teaspoons of flour.


· 1/2 cup brown sugar

· 2 tablespoons butter

· 1/2 tsp. cinnamon


1. Spray two 8’ or 9” cake pans with Bakers Joy.

2. Preheat oven to 350*

3. Cream together the butter and eggs, add cake mix, ginger, and cloves.

4. Gradually add milk, oil, and molasses mix for a few minutes, scrape down the sides.

5. Stir the figs into the batter just until mixed well.

6. Pour into cake pans.

7. Mix the streusel and sprinkle over both cakes.

8. Bake for 30-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

9. Let cool and stack on a pie plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Keep Refrigerated. Enjoy!!!
