Calf Slobbers
I’m always on the lookout for different and unique recipes and I was happy when my friend Jessie shared this fun recipe with me. I remember this from the past but have not had it for years. It is an easy and deliciously simple holiday side dish. There have been many different varieties and different ingredients added through the years. My aunt added shredded coconut and nuts to a version. Calf slobbers brought back some wonderful holiday memories.
I will show you how to make this versatile, sweet and memorable side dish. It is so easy to just dump, stir and let refrigerate for 12- 24 hours.
First gather all items and ingredients you will need.
1 large mixing bowl
Mixing spoon
1 20oz. can of pineapple tidbits
8 oz. container of cool whip
24 oz. small curd cottage cheese
1 small package of Jello. (I used cherry so you could change the Jello flavor to reflect a holiday.)
· Drain the pineapple well.
· Add all the ingredients to the mixing bowl and stir until well combined.
· Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 12-24 hours.
Try out the original recipe or have some fun with this and add your favorite nuts, coconut, maraschino cherries. This makes a great potluck salad that everyone enjoys!!!
