Citizens all over the United States value safety above all else. The need for protection has increased, particularly during a global pandemic. However, when it comes to survival, a pandemic isn't the only consideration. Often crime matters a lot too ...

According to recent research from Neighorhood Scout, there are states that are safer than others. This study looked at all of America's cities with populations of more than 25,000 people and ranked them according to the number of crimes per 1,000 people.

Detroit, MI is the most violent city in America for the second year in a row, with a violent crime rate of 19.5 per 1,000 inhabitants and a one-in-51 chance of being a victim of a violent crime. Last year, there were 13,088 violent incidents in the area, down 3% from the previous year.

Other cities in Michigan, though, are not as peaceful as they seem to us. Let's take a closer look at Michigan's most violent cities. Not only can you find the number of violent incidents per 1,000 inhabitants, but you will also discover the likelihood of being a victim there.
