I lived in Gilbert for nearly three months while doing an internship at a tech company. I have many good memories of that time and I can tell you Gilbert is a really special city.

Gilbert is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, once known as the “Hay Shipping Capital of the World” it is the sixth-largest municipality in Arizona, and the fifth-largest in the Phoenix metro area.

Gilbert is located southeast of Phoenix within the city’s metropolitan area at elevation 1237 feet (377m) above sea level.

The city of Gilbert operates under the Mayor-Council Manager form of government with leaders and authoritative branches that are elected by the voters for a four-year term. Brigette Peterson began her term in January 2021. The Mayor is the chief executive officer and chairperson of the Council.

Gilbert is the birthplace of many distinguished entrepreneurs, players and actors. In this article I’m going to introduce three people that really stand out from the crowd.

Nicholas Alexander Johnson (born December 22, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for Türk Telekom of the Turkish Super League. He played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats before being drafted 42nd overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2014 NBA draft.

Chester Charles Bennington (March 20, 1976 – July 20, 2017) was an American singer, songwriter, and occasional actor. He was best known as the lead vocalist of Linkin Park. He was also lead vocalist of the bands Grey Daze, Dead by Sunrise and, between 2013 and 2015, Stone Temple Pilots.

Bennington born in Gilbert and took an interest in music at a young age and he first gained prominence as a vocalist following the release of Linkin Park's debut album Hybrid Theory (2000), which was a worldwide commercial success.

The album was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2005, making it the best-selling debut album of the decade, as well as one of the few albums ever to achieve that many sales. Linkin Park’s following studio albums, from Meteora (2003) to One More Light (2017), continued the band's success. Bennington co-founded Dead by Sunrise, an electronic rock band from Los Angeles. In February 2013, Stone Temple Pilots parted ways with long-time lead singer Scott Weiland.

Alan Gordon

Alan Gordon (born October 16, 1981) is a retired American professional soccer player. In the majority of his career, Gordon has mostly been relied upon to make goals in games being substituted on the field. Gordon in his mid-teens, played two years of college soccer for Yavapai College, where he scored 39 goals in his two seasons.

During a 2007 friendly with Chelsea, Gordon was pulled for David Beckham's first appearance with the Galaxy in the 78th minute.
