If you are planning to attend a university with a rich academic tradition and a sprawling physical campus that stretch across five states, sightseeing should be one of your priorities. While it is tempting to simply hang out in the Student Center or engage in some other non-campus activity, this is not wise. In fact, if you really want to make the most out of your university experience, sightseeing should be your topmost concern. And if you do not have much time, then you should know how to get to the best sightseeing destinations in Texas.
When it comes to sightseeing in Texas, it is never too early or too late. There are literally tours that offer you the chance to tour all sorts of facilities and events happening in the university every single day. These tours allow you to see first hand everything that the university has to offer you. Some of the best sightseeing experiences happen in March, when students and faculty are busy preparing for the school's spring classes. March is also when you will be able to enjoy the annual Aggie Glee Club concert, a free family show featuring popular music singers and performers. This concert is one sightseeing trip that you should definitely not miss.
After hearing about all the exciting things that take place on the campus, how can you still ignore the university's outdoor areas? The Outdoor Activity Center is perhaps the place to start when it comes to sightseeing on the west side of campus. Here, you can witness the beautiful spring flowers while you mingle with students and faculty members. The grounds are lush with greenery, making it a perfect place for a picnic. But if you are looking for something more energetic, the Bee Family Centennial Planting & Research Center would be a good place to start. Here, you will get to see the fruits of the labors of the renowned agricultural scientists who created the infamous "fruit fly" crop.
Aside from the campuses, one of the best things to do during your trip to Texas A&M University is to spend some time seeing other attractions. There are a lot of things to do in College Station. One of the most notable ones is the Alexander Park, which offers several events and activities. You can visit the Wild Ones Wild Kingdom, the Hobby Hall, the Alexander Memorial Building, and the Charles Walnut Commons, to name a few. During your sightseeing spree, you can expect to witness the various creatures that are indigenous to College Station, like deer, quail, wild turkeys, foxes, rabbits, and even chipmunks.
In addition to sightseeing, the university also offers tours. The Texas A&M Ag Center offers guided tours for students who would like to get a feel of what the place looks like. The tour usually starts in Kyle TXA where you will be given instructions on how to get to College Station. Upon arriving, you will be given the chance to tour different areas in College Station. You can have a tour of the College Station Student union building or you can have a tour of the College Station Stadium. Each tour lasts about an hour, so you will have plenty of time to see all the places.
As a student of Texas A&M University, you don't have to limit yourself to the campus only. You can also visit different areas outside College Station such as the Collin Country Club, Cedar Creek RV Resort, and the Lake Travis Boat Dock. These sightseeing activities are great fun for students because they give them a chance to socialize with others.
If you're traveling with a lot of friends or family, you should plan a lot of sightseeing trips together. Visiting all the campus locations together can be a lot of fun, especially when you see how many students you meet during your travels. Also, try to visit all the historical sites in College Station. There's plenty of interesting information about the history of the place. You can learn about the struggles and sacrifices that the previous students made during the Civil War.
When you're done sightseeing, you can head back to campus and stay in any of the A&M University hotels for a comfortable stay. Many of the hotels are located nearby, which makes it easy to get there on the bus or on the train. Some hotels even offer shuttle service, so you won't have to worry about driving around town. You can get very comfortable accommodations in these hotels. However, if you prefer a more casual atmosphere, you can check out some of the homes lining Main Street between Riverside and Stiles roads. These homes are perfect for sightseeing and relaxing.
